Johann Zarco Undergoes Surgery After MotoGP Incident

MotoGP’s Austrian Grand Prix on August 16th proved eventful, and life-threatening. Four drivers found themselves risking their lives unintentionally after Johann Zarco & Franco Morbidelli crashed horribly into one another. It resulted in both their motorcycles gliding through Valentino Rossi & Maverick Vinales, missing both drivers by 100s of a millisecond. Both Rossi and Vinales rode away unscathed from the unexpected incident, with Zarco & Morbidelli not being so fortunate. Johann Zarco underwent surgery on August 20th after his wrist was fractured in multiple locations.

Johann Zarco is the individual that prompted this horrific incident, prompting substantial backlash against the “Avintia Ducati Racing” driver. Zarco under-braked on the 2nd to 3rd corner after going slightly wide on Lap Nine, resulting in Franco Morbidelli to hit the back end of Johann’s Ducati. Both men flew from their vehicle & the motorcycles spun towards the barriers. The impact of these motorbikes against the walls prompted threw them towards Maverick Vinales & Valentino Rossi, who both were located to the left-hand side of corner three.

Franco Morbidelli & Johann Zarco are privileged to walk away from this horrific incident with minor injuries. Out of the two riders, Morbidelli came out unscathed with small lashes & bruises. Tests completed on August 18th for Johann Zarco revealed a fractured scaphoid of the right wrist, prompting an immediate operation at an unknown medical facility in Italy. Johann Zarco hopes to return by August 22nd for the Styrian Grand Prix – Qualifying Session. It’s highly unlikely that the wrist surgery from August 20th will have healed to a racing-capable degree in 48 hours.

The standard procedure used in such instances that bones are immediately required for healing was given to Johann Zarco. This means a screw & metal plate has been placed against his broken bone. It alludes the body into thinking a vital body part isn’t that damaged, permitting faster healing, and almost immediate usage.

Reactions of Franco Morbidelli

It should be mentioned an influx of hatred from Franco Morbidelli has been directed towards Johann Zarco. Morbidelli claims that Johann is “Half a Killer” and shouldn’t be permitted to compete going forward. These attacks are personal from Franco, with Maverick Vinales & Valentino Rossi mentioning that competing riders must calm down going forward. However, no direct attacks were made towards Johann Zarco. How the grid reacts to his inevitable return will be interesting for MotoGP enthusiasts.
